My experience at Unleash the Power Within (UPW) London w/ Tony Robbins

In late 2016, one of my best friends, Lori, asked me if I wanted to join her to Tony Robbins’ event Unleash the Power Within. By that time I’ve already read a few of Tony’s books, have seen plenty of his videos and welcomed the opportunity to do it. Unlike me, Lori has not really heard of Tony much before that. Her boss had attended the seminar the previous year and had enthusiastically encouraged her to go.

Even though I knew what to expect and why it was worth it, I couldn’t ignore the financial commitment of nearly £1,000. I had to mull it over and eventually made the right choice of going. I can imagine the cost of the seminar might be something that stops people from signing up for it. If that’s how you feel, then snap out of it and register for the next seminar. It’s never a pleasant question asking yourself “what did I miss out on?”, so just do it. If you’re still not sure if going to the event is the right choice, then read on. I’ve summarised what happens on each date and have added some personal remarks.

The UPW seminar

Day 1 – Turn fear into power featuring the fire walk experience

The actual seminar on the first day starts a bit later than the other days, as the morning is occupied with the registration process. This is one of the two days when Tony Robbins is on stage. He plays a vital role in preparing the attendees for the firewalk that happens later that evening. There’s no man like Tony who can pump you up. His presence, his aura and his voice are something I wish to everyone to experience. You can easily read a book or two Tony has written, but being around him is a game changer.

Day 2 – Turn dreams into reality

That day on stage we had the pleasure of meeting Joseph McClendon III. I say the pleasure now, but I must admit that for the first few hours my focus was not on how great Joseph was, but on the fact he was not Tony. If you go to the event and catch yourselves doing the same thing, change your focus, as Joseph is a great motivator and has the power to inspire people too. He might not be as tall as Tony and doesn’t have is deep voice, but he is as cool.

Day 3 – Breakthrough to your new life

This was the transformation day. Tony was back on stage and prepared us to break through the chains of our limiting beliefs and move towards the lives we deserve. Many people have limiting beliefs that stop them from going after what they want in life. Some people think they are not good enough to do a certain task or to achieve a certain goal, others think the are not loved. Whatever your limiting belief is, it is only a temporary thing. Tony will show you techniques to re-wire your mind and get rid of things that are stopping you achieving your true potential.

On day 3 is when you’ll look into your circle of life, representing how well you’re doing in the different aspects currently. This will give you an indication of which area needs immediate attention and what you’d like to excel in.

Day 4 – The power of pure energy

On the final day of the event we learned about the power of a healthy life. The speakers taught us how to eat better, breathe better, as well as how unify our minds and bodies through meditation and focusing exercises.

A secret to share

For the last couple of years, I’ve had a a productivity coach (mentor) called Stoyan. By the time of the event, Stoyan had already taken me through some of the exercises we did during the event. This was a double-edged sword, because as much as I enjoyed the fact that I have already started my journey and was thus ahead of the game compared to many people at the seminar, this also meant that at times I caught my mind wandering off. Although I’ve done the wheel of life a few years before the event and have already taken action on improving the underperforming areas, it was great to revise how far I’ve come and set new goals to achieve.

How to make the most of the UPW event

  • Bring a bag/rucksack every day with food and drink supplies.
  • Have a few layers of clothes. The temperature can easily get and remain 14 C for hours.
  • Bring a pen, no need for paper, as you will be mostly writing in the materials provided at the registration desks.
  • If you want a good seat, arrive early, i.e. 7am latest. The queues are massive and even if you have paid for a VIP ticket, like we have, we were still towards the back of the VIP area. Big screens provided clear view of the stage, but knowing you could have been a meter away from Tony is our mistake I’d like you not to make.

After the event

A few days after the event we were still pumped up, got thinking about what action to take, where to start and how to make things happen for ourselves. We then decided that it was time to step up our game once again. We committed to sign up for Mastery University. Mastery University is a program that combines three events – Date With Destiny, Life Mastery and Wealth Mastery. Life Mastery and Wealth Mastery tend to happen one after the other and Date With Destiny is at a different time of year.

I’m delighted to say that in December this year, I will be going to Date With Destiny and will have the privilege of meeting Tony again.

Date with Destiny is the only seminar where Tony is present for the whole duration. Due to problems with his vocal cords, Tony runs only two of the Unleash the Power Within days.

I’ll be sure to write a blog and share my experience from Date With Destiny, so watch this space!
